Gerri Johnson-McMillin has been creating art since early childhood, with a love of the fiber arts - crocheting, sewing, needlepoint. Today she utilizes processes including weaving, spinning, and knotting in creating her work. She is best known for vessels created from albacore bones and monofilament, born of fishing trips with her husband. The works explore characteristics that dictate each bone’s individuality, with various sizes and colors of fishing line adding translucence to the vessels. The resulting works take on a new life form, a spiritual presence, resembling what might dwell in the depths of the ocean.
